Dhalai District Polytechnic, established in year 2010, is affiliated college located at Kamalacharra, Ambassa, Dhalai. This AICTE approved, government-owned institution is spread over a vast 33 acres piece of land. The polytechnic currently provides three diploma programmes in engineering fields of study to meet the total student Admission capacity of 282. The faculty strength of the institute comprises of 13 highly dedicated members of faculty and this has ensured that there is adequate students to teacher ratio in order to offer quality services. Being a technical institution, the Dhalai District Polytechnic continues offering practical skills and professional knowledge to the learners.
Dhalai District Polytechnic has other amenities that enable the delivery of effective learning to its students The institute has some amenities that facilitate learning by its students. The library is well equipped with reading materials including current subject specific books for each branch, magazines, and journal published in the library with special arrangements kept in the reading section. The IT infrastructure is well developed with a computer laboratory wired with broadband connections; Wi-Fi has also been provided with branches’ specific software for IT students. As for practical activities, the polytechnic contains physical, chemical, civil engineering, electronics and telecommunications, electrical engineering labs – all equipped with the necessary equipment that meets the terms of the syllabus for obtaining the diploma engineer. The practical portions of the mechanical sciences are supplemented by the machinery for smithy and carpentering, which is in the mechanical workshop. Sports facilities are also available for students, besides, a cafeteria is available which also provides vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food. Another aspect of the institute is that it’s a dedicated programme for the all round development of students; the institute has an auditorium where functions and seminars are also held.
Dhalai District Polytechnic has a relatively narrow spectrum of full time diploma courses which take three years each to complete. The institute currently provides three courses: Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
