About Dimapur Government College, Dimapur

Born out of the initiative of the Dimapur University and formally founded in 1966, the Dimapur Government College (DGC) is one of the oldest tertiary institutions in Nagaland. This affiliated college is located in a vast area of 30 acres and has been providing service to higher education for more than five decades. Affiliated to the xml:namespace rlt;FAKT;National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), DGC has students strength of 1,149 admitted for more than 14 UG specialized programs offered by 53 dedicated faculty members. College offers 9 courses in three degree programs in arts and commerce streams, thus fulfilling educational needs of the students of Nagaland and from other parts of country.

It has the following facilities to support and complement college education and development of learner: A private library of a university reading has more than 6,500 books and 15 printed magazines for use in research activities. On this regard, the facility has installed modern facilities such as internet connection so that the students can easily access electronic resources. Athletes and lovers of sports and games can access both indoor and outdoor sports facilities from the DGC. The college also provides modern laboratory facilities, an elegant fully equipped auditorium for events and seminars as well as a well maintained canteen offering hygienically prepared produce at reasonable prices. For instance, DGC has a boy’s hostel with 100 beds and a separate girls’ hostel to comfortably accommodate out-station students and thus a comfortable hostel facility is available for students here.

Dimapur Govt. College is one of the oldest tertiary institutions in Nagaland. Admission for undergraduate programs at DGC is merit based. Established as a member institution of the NAAC- National Assessment and Accreditation Council, DGC offers various arts and commerce courses. Admission into undergraduate programs in the college is based on the scores from CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate), thus observing the norms set nationally for the admission of undergraduate programs. Eligibility criteria for admission include qualifying in 10+2 from a recognized board. Specific subject requirements may also be included, depending on the chosen course. A case in point is a student applying for B.Com programs who is required to have studied Commerce or similar subjects in higher secondary classes.

Application Process

Dimapur Government college admission applications involve the following steps:

1. Qualifying for the CUET UG examination as this is the basis for all admissions to the college through CUET UG score.

2. Visit the official website of Dimapur Government College and check the notifications for admissions and the application processes.

3. Fill in with the application form provided by the college; this might be sourced from the college office or available online.

4. Submit the completed application form, attaching all required documents. These usually include:

10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates

Degree wise Admission Process

BA: DGC offers BA programs with different specializations. The general BA program has 90 seats available. The admission is on the basis of merit and CUET UG scores. The total approximate fee for BA programs is around Rs 16,900.

BA Honours: Several BA Honours programs are available at the college:

BA Political Science Honours- 70 seats
BA History Honours- 70 seats
BA Education Honours- 70 seats
BA Economics Honours- 55 seats
BA Philosophy Honours- 60 seats
BA English Honours- 50 seats
BA Sociology Honours- 60 seats

An almost similar fee structure that applies to the general BA program is the BA Honours, about Rs 16,000. Admission is purely merit based.

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): This course offers a total of 90 seats to students and is charged a total fee of Rs 29,400, approximately. The selection process is merit-based.

B.Com Hons: This program has a seating capacity of 70 students. The admission procedure is merit-based, just like the other programs offered by the college.
