DIPS College of Education, Dasuya, fostered in 2009, one of the leading educational institutes positioned in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. This affiliated college, recognized by the NCTE- National Council for Teacher Education is committed to building the future of a teacher. DIPS College is located in a large area of 5 acres so the whole place is perfect for learning and personal development. Due to a total student enrolment of 107 and 17 member faculty team, this college focuses on individual student attention and quality education. At the moment, the institute only has one degree programme – the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), in light of the institute’s specific mission of preparing teachers.
This college also has a number of functional facilities which have helped improvised the learning experience of learners. Wrapped within these services is a modern, large and fully stocked library, perfectly positioned for students. This resource center is a knowledge center as books placed and made available here for students to browse through are placed on open shelves. The college also has highly developed practical labs in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, in which qualified teachers demonstrate students real-life experiments, examples of learning by doing. To cater this aspect DIPS College has set up a fully fledged computerized library for the students to enhance their computer skill. The intent of this facility is to equip students with knowledge that they need to enable them cope with the current technological challenges facing learning institutions.
DIPS College of Education, Dasuya, currently offers one full-time course: the Bachelor of Education which is referred to as B.Ed course work. The teaching education program is such that anyone who wishes to become a professional teacher should take for a period of two years to achieve the set goals that will enable him/her face the job market armed with adequate knowledge and experiences in handling the challenges of the teaching fraternity. The college has the permission to admit 100 students for this course and there are equal opportunities available for those students who wish to build their carrier in the teaching profession.
DIPS College of Education also maintains a merit-based admission policy also because of its emphasis on the students’ academic accomplishment. When a student is aspiring to join a particular program, his/her performance in any of the qualifying examination and entrance test is considered. The college also uses other forms of selection as provided for by the state government, Union Territory administration, and the university to which the college is affiliated to.
