About the DIET, Dhubri The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Dhubri was setup in the year 1995 and is an autonomous institute independently devoted to train teachers. This is a government aided college situated at Golakganj,Assam and its aim is to build up the future teacher. DIET Dhubri is recognised by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) which makes it qualify for its programmes to be in line with national qualifications. The institute is spread over a small area of 2.5 acres, but effective learning is facilitated for its 141 admitted students. DIET Dhubri has 6 members in its faculty and therefore, the Institute gets the attention of competent teachers which directly results in student-teacher ratio in strength.

DIET Dhubri will strive for providing quality education and education facilities in addition to a number of facilities to the student. It features a standard library to ensure that a teacher professional development institute is indeed a pool of knowledge source. For practice facilities for educational interventions are offered by general departmental laboratories where students can gain practical experiences in teaching. It also comprise of sport related facility for the enhancement of student health , fitness and spirit in terms of teamwork. Cognisant with the concept of technology in today’s teaching methodologies, DIET Dhubri boasts of good IT facilities to train students in the technological requirements that teaching entails. third, there is the girls’ hostel for the female candidate who may be distant and may need a safe place to live. For the comprehensive learning and all-around development of each student, DIET Dhubri engages in organizing several co curricular activities so that the students can bring to light their talents apart from the books.

At present, DIET Dhubri focuses on offering a single, specialized course: their?s as the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). This is a two-year full time program whose objectives are to train students for teaching careers at the elementary level. Being a state level college, it has a sanctioned intake of 50 students for D.El.Ed course and offers complete training in the theories of children development, teaching methodologies and fashionable thought process. This strategy helps to manage the resources well and provide the best teachers to the institutions through training.. The program is designed to meet the institute’s mission of educating professional and responsible educators who can bring values in primary education.

DIET Dhubri has laid down certain admission process in order to be fair and merit based especially as per rules and regulation of the Assam government. Based on performances in the examination taken at the end of the eleventh year called the ‘qualifying’ examination, the students would be selected and the qualification required is the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent.
