District Institute of Education and Training, Nongpoh Admission Process
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Nongpoh, is an autonomous stand-alone institute focused on teacher education in Meghalaya, India. Located in the Ri Bhoi district, DIET Nongpoh offers classes as approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Following the national standards, the processes of selection in the institute are envisioned to select those who have the potential to become quality professionals in teaching. DIET Nongpoh normally holds admissions for all its courses at the start of each year when the academic year begins. The institute main course is its D.El.Ed program for which it has 50 students intake approved.
An admission cycle will begin a few months ahead of the beginning of an academic year that generally starts in the latter part of a year. The admission of students to DIET Nongpoh is on the basis of marks received in the qualifying examination (10+2) and/or an entrance examination. The institute may also utilize other selection methods as called for by the policies of the Meghalaya state government. This holistic process guarantees the entry of only that number of students who can be molded into perfect teachers.
Admission Process
The generally followed admission process at DIET Nongpoh for D.El.Ed is as follows:
1. Declarations: The institute declares the beginning of the admission process through mass media, in addition to its official website.
2. Application Form: Application forms shall be downloaded/collected, duly filled-up as needed, and the form can either be downloaded from the institute website or collected personally at the institute.
3. Submission of Document: The candidate is required to submit the documents as mentioned in the application form:
- Original as well as photocopies of 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates.
- Transfer certificate from the last attended institution
- Character certificate
- Caste certificate, if applicable
- Any other such documents for which institute/institutes request/ require to appear.
4. Entrance Exam: Institute or the concerned Institutes might need Candidates to clear Entrance exam/ Tests, Information as and when requested like syllabus as well as any type of question papers along with exam patterns might be received directly by candidates.
5. Merit List Preparation: On the basis of marks in qualifying examination and/or performance in the entrance exam, the merit list is prepared.
6. Counselling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates are called for counseling. There they verify their documents and complete admission formalities by paying fees, etc.
7. Commencement of Classes: The successfully admitted students will begin their academic session according to the institute's calendar.
Degree-wise Admission Process
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): D.El.Ed programme at DIET Nongpoh is a two-year full-time course that readies the candidate for teaching elementary school level. The intake of 50 students into this program makes it very systematic and specialized in nature. D.El.Ed admits students based on merit obtained from the qualifying examination, either through 10+2 marks or by performance in entrance examination. The institute, based on the state government policy, may conduct further selection procedures. Candidates who successfully passed their 10+2 exam from a recognized board are eligible for this position.
