It was founded in 1979, as a self-financed institution, situated in the lively Indiranagar region of Bangalore, Karnataka state in India and is known by the name Dr. Ambedkar Evening College. This is a co-educational college college which is located on a small piece of land of 3.25 acres and although it is an affiliated college it strives to offer educational opportunities to the working people and those opting for flexible learning. The college is with enrolment of  150 students and 11 faculty members which makes it easier to help a student grow into the best and acquire the best education.

Dr. Ambedkar Evening College boast proclaiming of offering many more requisite and relevant services crucial for the capacity of students. Rich and fully equipped library for its academic resources and productions, which is the center of learning environments; extant and efficient sports forum to foster physical strength as well as group team spirit among its student populace. The college has innovative information technology resources to support its students in following the current technology. There are departmental chemical laboratories where students practicals help to reinforce the theory being taught in class, and the auditorium is used for various occasions, Seminars, etc. enhancing the learning process.

Dr. Ambedkar Evening College offers three full-time programmes. B.A., B.Com, and B.Sc. courses in Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science. These courses are intended to help students get the knowledge necessary for a particular area of work or to continue education at the next level. The B.Com programme which is most popular has an approved strength of two hundred students and this is show the high demand of commerce education in the society.
