Dr. BR Ambedkar First Grade College, Bidar came into existence in 1987 and is an affiliated first-grade college situated in Hallikhed, Bidar district of Karnataka. The institution which is situated over a land of 3.23 acres is NAAC accredited. At present, the college is having 177 students’ enrolment and it has 14 faculties making education more specific in the college.

Dr. BR Ambedkar First Grade College has various facilities with purpose of improving the student experience and academics. The centre of these amenities is the library with vast stock of books, encyclopedias and journals, magazines etc. It also subscribes to newspapers in Kannada, Hindi, Urdu and English to promote multi-lingual learning in the institution. Outdoor facilities include football ground, basketball court, tennis court and volleyball court and indoor facilities include table tennis and badminton. It includes a volleyball court and cricket ground, a running track of 400 meters and separate playing areas for chess and carrom. Also, for more on health, physical, and fitness, the college provides a gym for the students.

Dr. BR Ambedkar First Grade College is introducing a specialised course structure that features its main offering- the Bachelor of Arts . This is an undergraduate course that takes three years and prepares student for a full mastering of the humanities.
