The affiliated college, Dr. G.U. Pope College of Education, Thoothukudi was established in 2006, and is situated at Sawyerpuram, Tamil Nadu. This institution is also recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and it offers teacher education programme. Spread over 5 acres, the college has the strength of 159 students and 10 teaching staff members.

Dr. G.U. Pope College of Education has put in place amenities that are supposed to facilitate teaching leaning to the ability of the students. The library may be resource centre where 11, 986 B.Ed books and 56 journals are available along with EBSCO and N-List databases. For practical training, there is a functional science laboratory in the institution where the students can make experiments, which are in connection with the matters taught in the science subjects of the elementary grade level.

Dr. G.U. Pope College of Education offers B.Ed programme which is a two year full time course and M.Ed course. This specific method leads to the fact that the institution can focus its authorities and experiences on training high-quality educators. The college admits one hundred students every year to its BEd programme to meet the education demand in producing qualified teachers. 

Students are admitted in Dr. G.U. Pope College of Education through the marks achieved in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Admission into the college is in accordance with the guidelines issued by the state government/Union Territory administration and the University to which the college is affiliated too. Prospective students are, therefore, considered according to performance in previous academic standing, and may have to undergo other tests depending on the prevailing measures.
