Dr. Khel Singh Gill Akal College of Agriculture Sirmour was established in the year 2014 at Baru Sahib near Rajgarh Dist- Sirmour Himachal Pradesh. This institution has eighteen courses in agricultural and food technology, and they are offered at five levels of degrees. This college consists of 31 faculty members which gives the college a strong and quality education in the specialisations which it offers which includes Agriculture, Food Technology, Biotechnology, and Horticulture. Akal College of Agriculture is aimed at developing the necessary practices and implementing theoretical education in the sphere of agriculture and other connected sciences.
Dr. Khel Singh Gill Akal College of Agriculture has provided basic amenities in the students’ academic endeavours. An efficient library forms a part of a students learning resource and has an installed capacity to contain several books, journals, and such digital media that is connected to agriculture and allied sectors. This facility is very important to support research activities as well as students learning in all courses offered by this institution.
Akal College of Agriculture has a broad range of 20 courses thus offering full time undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctoral studies. The course includes offering of B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), B.Tech Food Technology (Hons), M.Sc programmes in different specialised fields in agriculture and M.Tech programmes in food technology and PhD programme. The total intake capacity for all courses is 251 students, out of which 90 student intake is dedicated to the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) programme and 60 students to B.Tech Food Technology (Hons).

The recruitment criteria at Akal College of Agriculture therefore differs based on the course the student intends to take. For the B.Tech Food Technology (Hons) programme, merit list is prepared on the basis of the rank obtained in JEE (Main) examination, however the minimum passing percentage required is 15% for General Category and 10% for Reserved Category. But HPCET (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) is also acceptable for the candidates with a minimum of 20% marks for the General Category & 15% marks for the reserved category. To this end, the college allows candidates who sat for the JEE Main and HPCET entrance exams to apply for their particular programmes.
