The college is affiliated with the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna State University, Sitapur, and it is governed by the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Government Degree College, Bhadohi. It came into existence in the year 1999. It is a government-owned university that has physical classes and offers several undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields. Holding a total student enrolment of 1150 and a faculty strength of 17, the college is shuttling a number of streams of students. Being aware of the role of females in present-day society, the institution has numerous female students, with 69% of all undergraduates being female. The college for now has 4 courses in 3 degree programmes in arts and sciences and offers full-time undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes. 

The college aims at ensuring its students get a favourable environment in which to study. With over 12,000 volumes and journals and departmental libraries, the university has a central library as well. The institution adopted the conventional system of teaching enhanced by audiovisual equipment and projectors rather than conventional lecturing. A variety of laboratories in school can be provided according to the department requisite for students effective laboratory learning. These are 3 for undergraduate programmes and 1 for postgraduate levels. This means that the college's programs are popular, and the actual enrolment may be even higher than contracted amounts. 

Admission is conducted based on merit, while the institution accepts students with any kind of impairment. The college has the following undergraduate programmes; BA, B.Sc. with the Bio group, and B.Sc. with the Math group, whereby the colleges differ in seat allocations. At the postgraduate level, the college has an MA in Sociology. 

The college also currently has an alumni association through which current college students can be guided, especially in matters concerning their careers.
