Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, situated in Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh was founded in 2016. This affiliated college for boys and girls approved by National Medical Commission provides good standard medical education. With total student enrolment capacity of 365 and total faculty of 70 members the college has a well suitable environment for the medical education seekers. It currently provides two types of degrees in the field of medical education namely; the MBBS which for both the undergraduate and postgraduate level and MD-Community Medicine.

Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College has laid down basic necessities that are paramount in the achievement of students’ normal development. The health center supplied with first aid facilities is responsible for the student’s health. This library plays the role of a providing the vast assortment of the medical literature and materials. Also, there are computerised facilities in the college and students are updated on recent advancements in medical technology and knowledge through computerised equipment.

Thus, an overall total of two courses are being offered by the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College and both in full time Model. The MBBS programme which serves as the major part of the college generally has an authorised admission strength of one hundred and twenty and the programme duration is six academic years. MD Community Medicine is a postgraduate course that began a few years ago, and there are 3 seats available for the course, and it takes 3 years to complete. 

Like other govt medical colleges, admission criteria to Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College is merit base and is in compliance with unified admission procedure of the state. To join the MBBS programme admission is offered on the basis of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Medical is a common entrance for MBBS across the country. Likewise for the MD Community Medicine programme the candidate has to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET PG).
