Dumkal Polytechnic, Basantapur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Dumkal Polytechnic, Basantapur College, was established in the year 2002. It is a reputed technical institute in Murshidabad, West Bengal. This is a co-educational institute that offers diploma courses in various engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level on this 5.065-acre campus. Dumkal Polytechnic, Basantapur, being approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, has gained certain significant grounds in the field of technical education. The enrolment of the institute comes to approximately 369 students a year, attended to by 32 faculty members, thus offering a good student-teacher ratio for personal attention and effective learning.

The Institute has huge facilities to make the studying experience an enriching one. There are two separate hostels within the campus, one for boys and another for girls, providing them a comfortable and congenial living environment for out-station students. Each hostel is provided with spacious, well-ventilated rooms and common rooms for recreation. The institute's library is a hub of learning, consisting of around 9,000 books, 22 journals, and numerous educational CDs and DVDs. This vast pool of knowledge is supported by an adjoining reading room that would help students develop a habit of self-study and research. There are additional facilities on campus, including fully equipped laboratories, a canteen and superior information technology infrastructure featuring campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity. Dumkal Polytechnic also has sports and a gymnasium on the campus, along with a health centre having first-aid services.

The Dumkal Polytechnic offers four full-time diploma programs whose duration of study is three years. It includes the following, Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology. Each program is affiliated with an intake of 60 students, hence making the total number of seats available 240. These programs offer a broad range of interests and career aspirations in the engineering field. Use of well-equipped laboratories ensures that the institute gives hands-on experience, thereby enhancing proper preparation for the industry.
