The admission to Durgapur Polytechnic College is primarily based on the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics, West Bengal, JEXPO. The entrance examination is conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development. Seventy-five percent of seats in each branch are allotted through JEXPO counselling, and the rest 25% is filled up directly by the college, strictly following the norms of AICTE and WBSCT & VE & SD.
