DVD Teacher Training Institute located in the beautiful town of Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu has been preparing the future teachers since 1953. This self-financed institute is recognised by NCTE as an independent college aimed at the training of professional teachers. The institute which is situated at Chidambara Nagar, Kottar, Nagercoil consists of a small 3 acres that will function as the focal point of Educationally aspiring teachers. Currently DVD Teacher Training Institute has 37 students while 8 are members of the teaching faculty, which means students are given a personal, warm and caring atmosphere in which they can grow academically.

DVD Teacher Training Institute boasts of a number of facilities that support the learning of the students in the institute. A well equipped library is a source of light and a wealth of knowledge which provisions contain supportive study materials necessary for additional and supplemental knowledge. To build practical knowledge, the institute has established department-specific practical amenities where students can work in practice settings.

DVTTI offers a full course of study for students and is currently anchored on the Diploma in Elementary Education programme. This is a full two-year course that gives the students a competitive training curriculum that prepares them for the complex and fulfilling task of teaching in lower classes of schools. This is a unique programme that can be carried out in an institute of education and as it is focused on this specific programme, further training can be as in-depth as possible to produce effective graduates for the future teaching profession.

Like all other institutions, DVD Teacher Training Institute has its admission process in accordance with the state government and UT administration. Based on the results obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance examination, the performances of the students are adopted as benchmarks. The institute may also incorporate other measures of staff selection of policies it deems appropriate under the government policies in order to get an accurate shot at the candidates.
