ECGC Kolkata: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

East Calcutta Girls' College came into existence in 1992 and happens to be one of the very prominent institutions for learning in Kolkata. The affiliated college with NAAC accreditation provides quite a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Spread over an area of 2.2 acres, the ECGC has grown into the center for women's education with a total student enrollment of 1,182 and a faculty of 51 dedicated individuals. It manages 20 courses in 8 degree programmes in streams of Arts, Sciences, and Commerce.

ECGC creates a learning ambience in which students and faculty meet, chat, discuss, argue, debate, and grow together. The library of this institution is well-stocked and functional. It operates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Departmental laboratories have been provided to enable practical study in respective subjects. The erstwhile IT infrastructure put much emphasis on technological advancement. An auditorium and sports facilities are` available on campus for extracurricular activities and events organised at ECGC. The college has a health centre that gives first-aid facilities and a gym to keep the students fit. The food of the campus is handled by the cafeteria in case of staff and students, thus establishing the community sense.

The wholesome and multidisciplinary academic curriculum of East Calcutta Girls' College constitutes a total of 20 courses taught in this college, and all are regular courses. Of these, 15 are undergraduate courses and the remaining 5 are of postgraduate studies. The admission process of East Calcutta Girls' College is comprehensive and commendable. Though the date of admission might differ course by course, the college follows the academic calendar of the affiliated university largely in matters of admission.
