Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir – SKUAST – K Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at Srinagar J&K is a premier institution. Starting in 1982, this prestigious faculty has produced great professionals in the sector throughout more than forty years of its existence. The institute is tiled at a vast piece of land of 338 acres where it enables environment for learning and research in veterinary science. The institute a total enrolment of  500 students while it has a faculty of 86 making a student-faculty ratio that is ideal in as much as it fosters personal attention to the students.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir serves with numerous amenities intended to complement the learning processes of learners. There are well-developed laboratory facilities available at the campus to impart practical sessions which form an important part in veterinarian science education. IT students have a full range of services at their disposal to be provided with the most appropriate and up to date technologies used in learning. Education is also given great importance and the institute provides students with sports facilities and a gym to help students turn fit and fine. For the students who may need to stay with us other facilities to accommodate the two sexes are Hostel for boys and Girls respectively. There is also a special facility for all the academic and cultural programmes and performances that the various institutions conduct in the campus, a canteen where students and staffs can have their meals, and a health centre with facilities for first aid in event of accidents to the members of the campus community.

This faculty provides a number of courses of veterinary education suitable for different levels of education. The institute offers 9 courses spanning across the three levels of degree, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level. The B.V.Sc and Animal Husbandry is the flagship programme in veterinary education, which plays an important obligation. In post graduate programmes the faculty offers MVSc in Veterinary Anatomy & Histology, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Physiology. For those who wish to join the higher level research in the filed, the university offers Ph.D. programmes in Veterinary Anatomy and Histology, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, Veterinary Biochemistry, and Veterinary Physiology.
