Established near ST Stand Indapur Road, this is co-educational institute affiliated to INC, India Nursing Council, to provide standard education in the context of nursing. There are two full-time nursing programs that the school accepts a total of 147 learners, headed by 11 members of faculty who are experienced nurses. Although being a small and new establishment, Giriraj Nursing School has been able to produce professional nurses for nearly nineteen years.
When it comes to the school facilities, one can say that there are a number of facilities that are supposed to make students’ learning process more effective. A spacious and well-endowed library being an important locus of information, and practical clinical laboratories, which are of paramount importance to prepare the students for the nursing profession. In order to provide comfortable and convenient living facilities for most students who come from other towns, the school also provides two different hostels for boys and girls, respectively.
There is also a canteen on the compound to provide for the appropriate food requirements of the learners and teaching fraternity. It also has an auditorium for convening some occasions, such as seminars, which enhance academic experience. To deal with any health emergencies on campus, there is a medical facility with first aid services accessible. Another area where the school’s overtures to the child’s all-round development are evident are in sporting facilities and an existing alumni organisation to which students can easily relate with professionals in the field.
Giriraj Nursing School offers two primary nursing courses: both are basic professional nursing courses offering the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) degree. The ANM course is of two years duration, while the GNM course spans over three years in duration. Each of the programmes is a full-time programme with an approved intake capacity of 30 students, for a total of 60 seats for the year. These courses are intended to give the theoretical background information as well as skills necessary for a nurse that will help him/her have a successful nursing practice. By having focused its offerings on these fundamental nursing degree programs, the school is able to provide adequate focus to each student that takes the programme and be well-equipped for his/her role in the health care systems.
The enrolment of the students in Giriraj Nursing School takes place once in the course of the year for the ANM and GNM programs. All students that wish to join the school must meet the standard requirements set by the Indian Nursing Council. A few tests are not clearly described, but candidates are normally evaluated on the basis of performance in qualifying examinations and may sit for an entrance test or interview.
Now, as a focused nursing institution with all the needed infrastructure facilities, Giriraj Nursing School is likely to carry forward the task of shaping up the future nurses not only restricted to Baramati but also extended to other areas as well. It is one of the best choices for these aspiring nurses in Maharashtra because of its focus on delivering quality education in a safe environment.
