Gita Teachers Training College, Birbhum was started in the year 2014 as a co-educational institution to impart education and training to prospective teachers. The affiliated college at Suri in West Bengal's Birbhum district got affiliation and recognition from the National Council of Teacher Education. The institution is spread over a compact area of 0.8277 acres with a total student strength of 173 and a faculty strength of 26 members.

The college is genuinely concerned about providing a proper learning environment for its students. Its facilities include a well-equipped library with high-speed internet access, further enriching the experiences of research and study of the students. There are modern, specialized laboratories on campus, such as a Psychological Lab, a Work Experience Room, and computer labs that rank at par with any related modern educational standards. Gita Teachers Training College offers two full-time courses related to teaching. The sanctioned intake of students in the B.Ed. course is 100 and D.El.Ed. is 50. Both are two-year courses.

Admission to Gita Teachers Training College is by merit and according to the state government and affiliated university policies. Admission to B.Ed. shall be as per the marks obtained in qualifying examination and / or by entrance examination, as may be decided from time to time by the state authority. The process of selection may include other criteria as per the State Regulations.
