Government Akhandanand Ayurved College, Ahmedabad, was established in the year 1965. It is one of the oldest institutions that impart the learning of Ayurveda. This affiliated college, situated at the heart of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, is approved by CCIM. The institute compactly covers 0.5823 acres, providing a focused learning environment. The institution has a good student-teacher ratio, and there is a total enrolment of 335 students, with a faculty strength of 33. 

The college has several facilities that support its students in their learning endeavour. The library serves as a knowledge hub and provides access to vast Ayurvedic literature and research material. In order to provide practical training, the college has different types of departmental laboratories that are well-equipped and allow students hands-on experience in Ayurvedic medicinal preparation of medicines and techniques. An on-campus health centre with first-aid facilities takes care of health and well-being for students and staff. A holistic development approach is pursued with sports facilities meant for physical fitness and recreation within the college campus itself. The auditorium hosts various academic events, seminars, and cultural activities; a cafeteria provides students with space to rest and spend time in between classes.

Government Akhandanand Ayurved College imparts broad diversified undergraduate and graduate professional courses in Ayurveda. The institute offers 5 full-time courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The most nobility and the flagship program of the institution is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, which is the very backbone of Ayurveda education. At the postgraduate level, it offers specialized MD and MS courses in various Ayurvedic disciplines.

Government Akhandanand Ayurved College admission is primarily based on merit and has a definite structure. Further, for MD Kayachikitsa, MD Panchakarma, MS Shalya Tantra, and MS Shalakya Tantra, there are admissions that happen based on the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test. It is conducted at the national level and allows only highly meritorious candidates to pursue further studies in Ayurveda.
