Government Balasaheb Deshpande College, Kunkuri was established in the year 1998 at Saliyatoli, Kunkuri in Chhattisgarh as a co-educational institution. This affiliated college has a campus of 10 acres and imparts diverse undergraduate programs. There is a total enrolment of 502 students and a faculty strength of 11 making the learning environment focused. The college offers 4 courses in 3 streams that include arts, commerce, and science. 

Several facilities have been provided for the comprehensive development of students within the college. One such central facility is a well-stocked library with 9,059 books, 13 periodicals, and 5 dailies that expose students to resources instrumental for their academic pursuit and general knowledge. It has indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the students more towards sportsmanship and physical fitness. Indoor games are provided with table tennis, carrom, and chess, while outdoors, there are facilities for kabaddi, kho-kho, cricket, volleyball, and athletics. The institution also maintains a gym for the development of their bodies as much as they do through brains via academics. 

Government Balasaheb Deshpande College has four full-time undergraduate courses. These include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
