Government BT College in Goalpara was established in 1974 at Baldamari Goalpara, Assam. This NCTE-approved institution is professionally focused mainly in the area of teacher education. Located on a 19-acre compound, it provides an environment that is conducive to learning for its many students. The enrolment capacity of the college is 200, and the faculty consists of 17 staff members, thus keeping the student-faculty ratio in check and thereby being able to afford individual attention to every budding teacher. 

Government BT College provides a host of various infrastructural amenities that are intended to complement the learning of the students. Close to being the trademark of the academic resources is a faithfully equipped library, which is always at the students’ disposal. Sports enthusiasts are also well catered for by the presence of the college sports facilities, which are tailored for different dispositions. They also have GOT departmental laboratories that accommodate all important practical experiences necessary for the teaching profession. 

Time comes when the college is well equipped with an excellent IT infrastructure that trains students for technology in enhanced teaching methods. Government BT College, Goalpara, is mainly a teacher education college that mainly provides the facility of B.Ed courses. It is a two-year full-time course developed to produce competent and dedicated teachers. The B.Ed programme teaches 100 students at a time, and it shows that this college has the capacity to produce a large number of quality teachers every year. Although this is the only degree programme currently being offered by the college, it shows that the college is focused on training teachers to meet the national challenge of offering quality education through qualified teachers.

The admission process for Government BT College, Goalpara, generally is in correlation with other higher education systems of Assam. The B.Ed programme since it is a professional course, may admit candidates with at least a bachelor's degree in any field from a recognised university.
