Government College, Barmer was established in 1965, in Barmer of Rajasthan and is one of the largest educational institutions in the region. This affiliated college that has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) opacity provides a wide varieties of undergraduate and postgraduate Courses. Situated on 36.71 acres of land, there exist an overall students’ headcount of 2,944 as of the year 2022. There are 95% students for undergraduates and 5% for postgraduates, & as per the gender break up there are 91% male students & 9% of females students. The institution has 29 dedicated faculty members teaching 12 courses in 7 degree programs offered in areas of specialization including; Accounting, History, Political Science, Chemistry and Botany.

Every College strives to create a safe environment combined with various facilities that help students succeed. Students are provided with adequate laboratory facilities for Physics, Botany, Zoology and Geography – making physical learning more tangible. It also has a well equipped modern computer laboratory meeting the rising trend of technology in the society. 

The college library occupies an important place in the presence of extensive books and periodical literature for conducting research activities and enhanced learning. For a more comprehensive growth, the college offers the sports amenities and offer a chance to students to exercise, that is apart from studies. A dramatics auditorium is used to host events and seminars in support of an active campus life. In the aspect of accommodation, the college provides its students with quality hostels, and there are different hostels for both male and female student. Other facilities are medical services, a canteen, and there is also stretch of parking space that increases students convenient with the climate of the school year.

Government College, Barmer provides a wide range of education, needed to attract as many students as possible. It offers 12 courses that comprises full-time undergraduate and postgraduate education together with doctoral learning. In the undergraduate level, the available programs include the Bachelor of arts-B.A, Bachelor of Science- B.sc and Bachelor of Commerce- B.Com. At the post graduate level the University provides M.Sc in Chemistry and Botany, MA in Political Science and history and M.Com in Accounting. For those with a research inclination the college provides doctoral programs in accounting, history, political science and chemistry. The enrollment during 2022 academic year was 2,344 student intake, while 2,797 students where under graduate and 147 students were post graduate. This diverse academic portfolio means that students have every opportunity before them to follow their chosen area of interest and to establish strong footholds for their eventual career paths.

That is the reason the admission to Government College, Barmer is open to learners with no discrimination with an aim of enrolling the most intelligent candidates. Unfortunately, the college enlists students for any of the courses depending on the academic calendar it follows affiliated to its university. Applicant to the undergraduate courses must have completed their 10+2 examinations, while applicants to the postgraduate courses will be expected to have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant area of study. 

The entrance examination coupled with interview for admission into any department is carried out by the respective department for applicants seeking the Ph.D. degree. Scholarship is part of the college’s heart as it offers scholarships to deserving students once in a while. Financial reimbursements were distributed as follows: In the 2022 academic year, 674 undergraduate students and 64 postgraduate students were given the opportunity to be financially reimbursed by the institution and its sponsors to testify that WUS is committed to helping make quality education available to all. It is hard to get particular information about the former alumni, but it can be stated that the given college unconditionally possesses rich experience in training learners and sending them to work in various fields, as it has been located in Barmer since 1965.
