Government College, Nedumangad: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

GCN is a self-financing institution of higher learning situated at Nedumangad Thiruvananthapuram district in the state of Kerala. With origins dating back to 1981, this affiliated college has been moulding the future for over four decades now. Located on 7.84 acres of land, GCN has a wide rage of programmes to provide education to its 1,121 students enrolled. The college has a committed teaching staff consisting of 32 members so there is always a favorable student-instructor ratio. As a result of the effort to give quality education, GCN has been accredited with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Offering 10 courses in the five-degree programs the college mirrors every student’s academic inclination in arts, commerce and sciences.

A college library is a collection of literature where students get all essentials in the area of their university education. For those who inclined towards technology, the college provides well furnished computer lab with 51 fully functional i5 processor having provision for Wi-Fi connectivity along with 10 KV UPS power back up. The on-campus exercise facility is there to accommodate all the bio-workout freaks The auditorium is used for purposes of events and seminarian meetings. The college also has subject Based Labs for analyzing the subjects at detail and these are very useful in Science Programs. A canteen is responsible for feeding the student as well as meeting the dietary needs of the staff. For medical purposes there is a health care center in the campus that has basic health care, first aid facilities. There is also evidence of the personal and social development of the college in its provision of sporting amenities for the students to keep fit.

The Government College Nedumangad has all round course combinations of different faculties. The college offers 10 courses which include under graduate and post graduate levels of study. At the undergraduate level, students can choose from six full-time programs  BA Economics, BA History, BA Malayalam, B.Sc Mathematics, B.Sc Physics and Computer Application, and B.Com Accounting. For those seeking advanced studies, the college offers four postgraduate programs: These are MA Economics, MA History, MA Malayalam and M.Com Finance. All these courses are in the category of full time, regular, and are intended to afford the graduate a considerable specialisation in the chosen discipline.

The requirement and the process of admission in the Government College, Nedumangad are socially justified and uniform. The college presently follows the merit system where marks scraped in the examining tests are taken into account. For the undergraduate programmes, the figures of Higher Secondary or equivalent examination are considered. In the case of postgraduate admissions, a candidate is offered admission depending on the grade obtained in the related bachelor’s degree program.
