Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi was established in 2009 by an act of Govt. of Odisha. Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi is a constituent institute of BIJU Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and also a government college located at the District Headquarter of Kalahandi, i.e. Bhawanipatna.

Students of Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi offers six undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, computer application and IT streams. The annual income of the family should not be more than Rs.8 Lakhs. Up to two girls per family can apply for the scholarship.
