About GCE Salem

Government College of Engineering, Salem, established in 1966, is one of Tamil Nadu's premier engineering institutions. Government College of Engineering Salem commonly known as GCE Salem has been approved by the AICTE. GCE Salem has been accredited by NAAC with a B+ grade. 

Government College of Engineering Salem (GCE Salem) is a publicly owned co-ed college. GCE Salem is an autonomous institute affiliated with Anna University. Admissions to GCE Salem are offered to 12 courses at the UG and PG levels in the streams of Engineering and Architecture.

GCE Salem offers - B.E and M.E courses. GCE Salem offers admission to the B.E courses based on the merit of the qualifying exam through TNEA counselling. For securing admission to the ME courses candidates need to appear for TANCET or GATE entrance examination. 

Government College of Engineering Salem has a training and placement cell. It trains and guides the students to get successfully placed. The students of GCE Salem can also avail themselves of the scholarships offered by various agencies. GCE Salem provides many facilities to the students like hostel accommodation, gymnasium, sports facilities, cafeteria and many other facilities.

Go for cse in GCE Salem . It is good college with decent facilities . Decent infrastructure and supporting staff and faculty. About 70-75% of the students from cse course got placed . The highest salary package offered in  course is 6.5 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 1.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Zoho and Accenture visit here this campus for placements. The average salary package offered ranges from 3.5-4 LPA..

Government College of Engineering Salem has not release the Bachelor of Engineering Computer Science cutoff list for MBC category for TNEA counselling due to some reasons. But it is expected that Government College of Engineering Salim will soon release the cutoffs for Bachelor of Engineering Computer Science course for MBC category.

It's not about the place but the stream that you need to consider as the two branches are very distinct from one another and provide diverse career opportunities. There are just a small number of government-related positions available in the market for civil engineers. So you should choose civil engineering if you want to pursue government sector jobs, which are limited.

However, compared to Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) has a greater number of work opportunities, therefore if you wish, you should pursue this field.
