The College of Fine Arts Thrissur is also referred as Government College of Fine Arts Thrissur, was established in the year 1910. Located at the backdrop of culturally soaked region of Kerala, this affiliated college has been fostering artistry for more than a hundred years. Situated in Bennet Road in city Thrissur, it is presently running restricted BFA programmes for 154 students being supported by a teacher strength of 15 members. As it can be observed from the following courses and equipment, the institution has intensified its offer of quality fine arts education.
Many of these are Sophisticated amenities for the students which are available at the Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur today include: The College of Fine Arts has its own library containing more than 4000 selected books and publications, focused on art and artistry, design, philosophy, visual culture and contemporary theories. It also avails Internet connection and other sophisticated browsing services to the student; thus making sure they are up to date with the arts and research. For art lovers, who are fond of computer-based works, there is a computer room including an editing bay where the workshops are held to introduce the students in the sphere of film or video. The campus also houses a large conference hall with a seating capacity of 300 students, and sophisticated A/V systems and projection facilities needed for visiting faculty sessions and seminars among other uses.
The college offers three full-time BFA programmes: Painting , Sculpture and Applied Art. Each programme has 40 student enrolment hence the total student enrolment for all the courses offered is 120. This type of programmes offers students a broad learning of their areas of specialisation in fine arts over a duration of four years. Incorporation of these central areas of fine arts explains why this college offers specialised education in order to produce experts in the discipline of the student’s choice.
