Chokli’s Government College Thalassery, Kannur was established in the year 2014, and it is a phenomenal affiliated college in Kerala. This public institution provides four under graduate/postgraduate programmes in different fields.. The college occupies a built up area of about 6 acres with total admission of 303 students and staff strength of 22. The institute offers a combination of courses in humanities, commerce, and technology which are BA History, B.Com Computer Applications, BCA and M.Sc Computer Science. It lays down its quality policy on education by inculcating professional values among its students in view of shaping up the institution as an appropriate haven for prospective professionals prepared enough to meet the emerging complexities of the strategic world.
To support the learning of its students Chokli’s Government College has several facilities that are important for learning. The 900 sq. Central Library has preservations with 4741 books of different sections, 120 reference books, 53 donated books. The library occupies the area of 1045 sq meters, the seating capacity of reading area is 20 persons, and the library plays strategic role in learning and teaching activities of the institution. The books are perfectly organised on the shelves and are made according to the Dewey decimal tabularised plan. Students can borrow general reading, student-restricted reading area, reference section, and repro-graphic section. This also saw the college acquire a computer lab with 17 desk top computers and 9 laptops with all Ubuntu operating systems and on internet connection. Similarly for break time and to mingle /interact, there is a canteen for staff as well as for students. Further, the college encourages its alumni base, having active relations with graduates of the college.
Government College Thalassery, Chokli provides four programmes altogether, three of which are under graduate and one post graduate programme-B.Com Computer Applications and M.Sc Computer Applications etc.Total student intake of the institute is 303 in all courses offered, so they have a lot of prospects for learners. Although there is no information about the number of graduates in the latest year, much information suggests that the college is dedicated to providing education to learners through its course and facility.
