Government Degree College situated in Bhoranj town of Himachal Pradesh was founded in the year 2002 and is one of the emerging college in the region. This affiliated college, which is located on a 20-acre campus, took its first students over 20 years ago and has been in the business of shaping young lives ever since. The college serves 685 students and employs 21 faculty members; to-date, the college provides a wide spectrum of undergraduate courses. It has a NAAC accreditation which is the seal of quality education which makes the institution proud. Currently the college offers six courses across four degree programmes with focus on Science, Arts Commerce, and Computer Applications that cater to the diverse needs of the students.

The Government Degree College  has a variety of institutional amenities that have the purpose of improving the learning environment. A good library facility works as the knowledge center of the campus consisting of over 3550 books and newspapers, periodicals, and research journals of different discipline. We offer comfortable studying conditions, especially the reading hall is designed to create the appropriate setting. From a technological point of view, the college’s Information Technology is well developed; the college boasts a computer lab fully equipped with modern equipment such as projectors, printer and internet connection. There are also departmental skill development laboratories in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, BCA and Geography in the college. An additional feature of the campus is an availability of a canteen and an auditorium which also contribute to a rich students’ life.

Government Degree College, Bhoranj has total of 6 programmes for undergraduate Studies and all programmes are on campus programmes. The course provided are B.Sc (Medical & Nonmedical), BA, B.COM, BCA Self-Finance Courses. Though the number of course wise seats is not clear, the total intake capacity of students for this college is 685. These programmes are thus intended to build a good grounding in their area of specialisation for further studies or a place in the employment marketplace.

Admission in Government Degree College, Bhoranj solely depends on merit that means there is no entrance examination for admission. All students joining the first year or first semester are to be placed based on their performance in qualifying examinations. This help to make sure that students with the right qualities get the chance to study their area of interest. Scholarship information is also lacking, however, any student who has an interest in a scholarship they can contact the college office. Since it is a young college, the college is in the progress of nurturing the old students’ associations which have just been formed to comprised of current and former students.
