Government Degree College, Chintalapudi was established in the year 1987, located in the District of West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, as a co-educational institution. This affiliated college graded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has a varied range of study programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At present, the number of total students on campus stands at 505 students, of which 61% constitute male students and 39% constitute female students. The college has 23 faculty members with 13 courses amidst 5 degree programmes, specialising in science, arts, and commerce fields of study. 

The Government Degree College believes in the provision of a holistic learning experience for its student fraternity. It hence provides a host of facilities that will ease the quest of any student who dares to enrol. Library, The library is the repository of all learning resources. The college aims to becoming an adjunct learning resource in the teaching programme. The use of the library facilities is encouraged more than textbooks. Gym and sports equipment are maintained by the college. As per the programmes scheduled the students can use the equipment. 

Government Degree College, Chintalapudi runs 13 courses in total, both undergraduate and postgraduate. The popular courses are spread over three years, and each one is offered at the undergraduate level. B.Com and B.Sc, with specialisations in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Horticulture; B.A in History, Economics, Political Science, Computer Application, Journalism, English, and Psychology. The college also offers M.Com and MA Economics for a duration of two years at the postgraduate level.
