Government Degree College, located at Dharmari In Jammu and Kashmir,  was established in 2008 as an affiliated college. This college of learning has the course and intention of offering best education to the students in the given region. The college has a total of 93 students attached to it and 6 teaching faculty members, in which the college offers quality education. At present, the college only has one degree programme, Bachelor of Arts (BA) showing its emphasis in Humanities. In order to achieve its goal, as an institution of government, it seeks to enrol diverse students in higher education.

Government Degree College, Dharmari, promotes a number of facilities with a view of improving the learning abilities of the students. The library is primarily a study facility which offers students books and journals and other reference material to help them in their studies. Realising the value of comprehensive education the college also has facilities for sports. Such privileges are also significant to health among learners, it also help to create team work and leadership among them. It is obvious that the facilities offered at the academic level together with recreational facilities contribute to the balanced development of the students.

At present, Government Degree College, Dharmari, only provides a single course major which is Bachelor of Arts major. It is a full-time, undergraduate three-year programne, which will equip the students with all round knowledge of different humanities disciplines. The BA degree programme encompass a broad area including Literature, History, Political Science, Sociology and Economy and many others. The fact that the college has given direction to this programme presents a significant interest in the development of critical thinking, analysis and general outlook of the society and culture in general. The college has a total intake of 93 students, something which helps keep the students to faculty ratio optimum, a factor that can improve, one-on-one interactivity.

The admission procedure for the Government Degree College, Dharmari especially for the BA programme follows the merit basis. The candidates seeking admission are selected on merit obtained in the Higher Secondary Part-II examination affiliated to either the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) or any other examination recognised by the University of Jammu. This approach makes it possible to give admissions on merit so that those with good grades will be admitted.
