Government Degree College for Women, Gajwel, was set up in the year 2008 and since then it emerged as an institution in providing higher education for women in particular in the state of Telangana. This affiliated college is located in Girls Educational Hub, Sangapur Road The college is spread in 5 acres of land. The institution teaches 10 different courses in three degree programmes for 954 total enrolment students. At present, the college has 17 members of the faculty making the student-teacher ratio reasonable. The college has obtained affiliation with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) thus proving the colleges intent on quality education.

The B.Sc programmes offered are offered with options in different combinations such as Biotechnology, Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics. The BA programmes, which include Economics, History, Political Science and Public Administration are available in English and Telugu media. The B.Com course stream is based on Computer Applications. The total student intake capacity is 954.
