Government Degree College, Nagrota Surian: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Located in the picturesque Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, the Government Degree College is at Nagrota Surian and became an affiliated college in 2014. Located in the quiet area of Nagrota Surian, this has been gradually expanding from the time it was established. With a compact campus area of 1.97 acres, the college provides several undergraduate courses to meet the needs of students with a variety of academic inclinations. Currently, the college has 561 students for whom 15 hardworking teachers provide quality education and offer 4 courses that are made possible by small group learning due to appropriate staffing ratios.

It is for this reason that the college is proud to continue offering a conducive environment for learning alongside important facilities. The learning resources centre is adequately equipped and well-resourced and proposes to students a great number of books, journals, and other useful resources available on the Internet. To promote practical learning, the college facilities include a departmental laboratory with appropriate apparatus in each stream so that the students can work practically on theories learned. Noticing that physical training is an essential part of every learner’s life and teamwork is important, the institution has provided sports amenities, so that learners can be able to switch between studying and sporting activities. In the present technological world, the college is in tune with its well-developed IT facilities and thus student gets an advantage of using technology in the learning process and personal development.

Government Degree College, Nagrota Surian, offers four full-time undergraduate programmes: It offers different undergraduate courses like Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). These programmes are created to equip the student with a solid background in the specific subject area so that the students can further continue with an academic programme or join the workforce. The BCA program however has an approved strength of forty seats which is the college’s effort to cultivate talent in the prospecting area of computer applications. Unfortunately, there is no conclusive intake number for the other courses, however, the college registration was 561 which is more or less agreeing with the above findings.
