Government Degree College, Puttur, locating itself in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh is a premier institute. The college started its journey in the year 1983 and has been a co-educational campus, serving society for nearly four decades. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC has accredited this GDC Puttur, which is an affiliated college for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

GDC, Puttur is dedicated to quality education and it delivers to the students with excellent resources to aid both learning and all-round development. The library is well-equipped and provides internet facilities, making it easier to research and study with easy access to a vast collection of 27,956 books. Specifically maintained for those interested in sports and games, sports facilities are available for physical fitness; even so, team spirit has to be developed as an added necessity to better learning. The IT infrastructure is good and modern with today's technologies to support most academic requirements of students. Department-specific laboratories are available, and the auditorium provides a platform for events and seminars. The facility provided is a gym, cafeteria, and various clubs that help in the holistic campus life. The colleges are affiliated with GDC Puttur and offer a wide range of programmes to aid to the differential interests of the students. 

The college offers 18 courses, which include undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Under the undergraduate programmes, the college offers a series of BA, B.Com, BBA, and B.Sc courses. For the postgraduate programmes, the college has the M.Sc courses in Botany, Organic Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, as well as an M.Com course. The total enrolment of students are 1,086 in number; of whom 513 are males and 325 are females. This shows the diverse learning environment of the students.

Application for various courses are invited in the college, and the admission process, in general,  begins immediately after declaration of 12th-grade results.
