Government Degree College Shahpur is an affiliated college in Shahpur, Kangra Himachal Pradesh which was set in the year 2006. Located in the beautiful environment of the Himalayan slopes, this institution has provided education to the people of this region for more than ten years. The college occupies a large area of 7.9 acres which is a very conducive area for establishment of learning institution. Indication of the quality standard observed at GDC Shahpur is its accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Currently the college is a haven of learning to 1,515 students and faculty strength of 18 to cater for all the students’ needs offering various programmes for the under part in all fields.

Below the college offers their client a variety of facilities essential in supplementing the learning process of students. The compact library holds almost all the books students may need to enhance their learning and knowledge base. In order to develop and promote physical fitness among the students, the college also facilities various sports academies for all those students who are interested in sports. Interest section practical can be defined as laboratories offering practical knowledge best suited for science classes. Student affairs are also relevant in this college through the provision of health facilities in a health center. As for the female students there is a girls ‘hostel where they can secure a lodging. In total, the GDC Shahpur has five undergraduate courses and all the courses are the full-time course. The college provides three main streams of study: Arts, Commerce, and Science. The humanities and Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme enable students to study a wide range of humanities subjects. For the business oriented students the college provides the Bachelor of Commerce abbreviated as B.Com degree. In the science stream, there is a broad option of general B.Sc degree or division between B.Sc Medical and B.Sc Non-Medical to meet various needs of graduates. These vary to make sure that students can have the freedom for them to be able to have the kind of lessons and programmes that they want for their careers.
