Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore, was established in 1958 to provide higher education in the stream of dentistry. In 2007, the college was declared an autonomous institute by the Government of Karnataka. It is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Government Dental College Bangalore offers the courses of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS).
The admissions in GDCRI Bangalore are welcomed through an eligible score in national entrance examination of NEET. For admission in the BDS course, the candidate has to appear for the national entrance examination of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and for MDS, one must appear in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS). If an applicant has sought an eligible score in these exams, then they have to participate in the counselling rounds, which will allocate seats to an applicant in GDCRI Bangalore.
An applicant can participate in All India counselling, governed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or the Karnataka state counselling, overseen by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The aspirant is only admitted into the programme if they meet the eligible cutoff of GDC Bangalore.
