Government Dental College Kozhikode was started in 1981 it is one of the finest institution to study dental located in Kozhikode Kerala. This affiliated college, recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), provides several dental courses on it 2.42 acres campus. This institute’s 9 courses are offered in 2 degrees and cover different aspects within the field of dentistry. With the presence of 69 faculty members, the college guarantees the teaching of high standards and actual experience for dental students. This can be seen through the current infrastructure of the institution together with the college curriculum aims to prepare its students for professional success in dentistry.

The college has many modern amenities that proved quite useful in the achievement of students’ academic and personal development needs. The university has modern boys ‘and girls’ hostels where the ladies hostel can accommodate over two hundred and fifty students. Our college is equipped with a hospital-clinic in which equipment is renewed periodically with high-tech devices; Patients receive the best treatment and our students – the best opportunity to train on modern hardware. Besides traditional classrooms, a well-stocked library where enriched with all the modern Computing facilities and resources. The college also houses a sports complex, information technology department, canteen and a hall for organising events such as seminars. These facilities include; electric dental chairs, panoramic cephalogram units, digital IOPA units, RVG units, and control dental ceramics and casting units making the clinics fully equipped and the learning environment realistic.

The Government Dental College, Kozhikode provides undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and a total of 9 courses. The BDS programme is the basic course offered in the institute with an approved strength of 50 students only. The college also has the following Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) specialisations. Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, and Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. All the courses offered are full- time courses to ensure that the students’ concentration and dedicated is fully utilised.

The process of admission into Government Dental College, Kozhikode allow for merit and this admission procedure is systematic. In the case of BDS programme, the entry is done through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). In like manner, for the MDS programmes, the candidates are required to pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS otherwise, NEET MDS.
