Government Engineering College, Banswara, well known as GEC Banswara is an autonomous college which was set in the year 2012at Banswara, Rajasthan. It is a recognised college with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and provides different ENGINEERING courses. Spread over a forty-five and a half acres of a sprawling landscape, the GEC Banswara provides a congenial atmosphere for technical learning. There are four B.Tech courses in the engineering stream, being Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering, with a total of 172 seats in all the classes. Being a newly formed institute, GEC Banswara has focused its goal on delivering quality education in the stream of Engineering and Technology.
It stands equipped with several facilities which will help to improve the learning atmosphere for the college students. The library being an essential feature in the provision of academic resources contains bibliographic and information resources equivalent to approximately 11000 books for students, faculty, and staff. Book fairs are held to replenish the collection as often as possible due to the fast arising issues in the society. Namely, I have got an excellent college IT support that can meet the technological demands of modern college education. Teaching in each of these departments is augmented by the availability of departmental laboratories where students are able to practice what they have been taught in academic classrooms. There are also sports grounds in the campus to support the physical and group personality of students. A seminar hall with a sitting capacity of 150-200 students has been provided for hall for delivering pre-placement talk and other activities where sound amplification is necessary and PA system has been provided.
GEC Banswara provides four standard B.Tech programmes, all of which take four years to complete. The courses include B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. Every programme was approved for 43 student intakes meaning that the total number of available course seats is 172. These programmes are intended to equip student with sound knowledge in their fields of specialisation for them to become viable candidates in the engineering market.
Government Engineering College at Banswara uses a procedure for admission that is free from bias. Although, the details regarding the admission process may not reveal it, engineering colleges in India employ the National/State Level Entrance Exam scores accordingly. At present, all the B.Tech programme fee structures in the college is 1,34,200 INR annually, which is very much reasonable for students who want to be engineers. It also has a solid alumni policy; thus, the current students can always get a piece of advice from experienced former students. This paper provides an argument that the college has a noble goal of improving the quality education offered to students and students’ exposure to practical experiences.
