Government First Grade College, Kanakagiri was NBAed in the year 2007 is a first grade college for both boys and girls situated in Koppal, Karnataka. One of the affiliated colleges which is NAAC accredited also has many undergraduate courses in arts and commerce streams. Located in a congested area of 4 Acers the college at present has 444 total enrollment students , the faculty strength of the college is meager to only seven members. The institute offers 6 courses in two programmes and offers compulsary History, Econonmics/Polical Science/Sociology and elective subjects in same fields along with Kannada and English.

Government First Grade College, Kanakagiri has been established to have various features that are supposed to improve learning among the students. To ensure quality in food served the centre has a canteen committee that oversees the quality of food on daily basis. To ensure that the members of the college including the faculty, staff and students they offer parking facilities. The classroom halls are well-ventilated with fans available, aside from that there are green boards and enough arrangements. There are two ICT equipped classrooms two of the classrooms with audio visual aids to support teaching/learning process.

While Ganapathy, the Government First Grade College, Kanakagiri offers six courses, all are fully paid. These are a general BA programme and also BA honours courses in History, Economics and Political Science, Sociology and languages Kannada and English. Also, just to adds up, the college has a programme in Bachelor of Commerce, for those who want to pursue a course in commerce.
