GFGCP is a self financing college started in 2005 in the picturesque town of Periyapatna, Mysore district of Karnataka. It is an affiliated college that was started in 1991 and has been preparing the youths for over three decades. GFGCP is located on 10 acres of land hence providing the group with ample exquisite environment to enable the growth of every individual in the group by providing comprehensive training. The college is currently hosting 421 students and caters to them from a team of 4 faculty members. GFGCP offers seven courses in three degrees and primarily in arts commerce streams. The college boasts of being NAAC accredited an indication of quality education as it strives to produce quality students.

Government First Grade College, Periyapatna have privileges of enjoying various facilities that are aimed at improving their performance in their period of study. The college library functions as a key knowledge source and proactively provides students with various types of books and materials that can be beneficial at any stage of study. Those who are interested in referring to sports and physical activities, then the college offers standard and equipped sport centres. These amenities not only support students towards the health conscious lifestyle but also enable the students to get ready for the universities/inter university/ state and national level activities. Most of the athletes from GFGCP have offered valuable trophies to the institution as they were crowned with prizes and medals. Camps health and safety needs are provided by an official first aid facilities situated within the campus health centre. Finally, the college has its own alumni association to which students can be part of once they complete their college education and as a result of being part of the association, students are supported through out there journey.

Government First Grade College, Periyapatna gives options for a number of full time courses for students to select from. The college currently offers 4 undergraduate degree programmes among which are: Bachelor of Arts (BA) for various fields of specialisation, and Bachelor of Business Management(BBM). The BA programme provides curriculum blends like History, Economical, and Geographical; History, Economics, and Political Science .For those who who desire to pursue business related courses, As for as the commerce students are concerned, they can take B.Com course.
