Government Girls Polytechnic, Gorakhpur was established in the year 1984 and is one of the premiere technical institutions spread all over the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This affiliated college with All India Council for Technical Education will provide quality education at the Diploma level in CADA, CE, CHE, ME, and EE. The working conditions prevail on a compact 3.5-acre campus with a total student enrolment of 763 and a faculty strength of 15. With its four diploma programs, the polytechnic focuses on hands-on technical education, tailored to provide students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary in the fast-moving technological world today. 

The institute also has a host of facilities available toward the academic and personal growth of a student. Acting as the hub of knowledge will be a well-stocked library, with ample resources available for research and study. The IT infrastructure at the college makes the students update themselves regarding current trends in technology. The specially designed laboratories provide hands-on experience in different branches of engineering. Government Girls Polytechnic, Gorakhpur offers four full-time diploma courses, each of three years' duration. It has the following diploma courses, Diploma in Information Technology, Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Diploma in Textile Designing, and Diploma in Electronics Engineering. 

Based on the result of the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination conducted at the state level, Government Girls Polytechnic, Gorakhpur finally selects its students for admission. This is conducted by the Joint Entrance Examination Council of Uttar Pradesh, and it constitutes the basic mode of admission to all diploma courses offered by the institute. For admission, prospective students have to clear this exam. The JEECUP checks the aptitude for technical education among the candidates seeking admission but also guarantees a standardised, fair selection process.
