Secunderabad’s Government Institute of Electronics commonly known as GIES was founded in the year 1981. Established as affiliated college in East Marredpally, Secunderabad, Telangana, it has always been playing crucial role of moulding the future of aspiring technologists for last four decades. Situated over the vast area of 8 acres, GIES is accorded with the permission/recognition from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), thereby providing quality education in the related field of electronics and following disciplines. It is equipped with 919 students and staffed by 47 members of the faculty that supplies an array of diploma courses that meet the emerging technological needs.

Secunderabad’s Government Institute of Electronics boasts of giving its students a complete learning institution which has less equiped with modern facilities. The institute supports sophisticated facilities such the Biomedical, Electrical, Electronics circuits, Electronics devices & circuits, and Embedded systems labs for real-life practice in the concerned fields. The college library is a knowledge centre which provides wider source of information to facilitate learning in the college. For the students who have intentions to stay at the university, GIES has individual hostels for both boys and girls to attend to the needs of outstation learners. A special facility is the auditorium for conferences, meetings, and seminars; the cafeteria for snacks and meals; and the sports facilities so important for healthy living. Further, it avails state-of-art infrastructures including IT, a hall for gym and shower, and guest house for visited faculty and their families.

The institute has a total of nine diploma programmes, all courses are full time and may take up to three years to complete;- Computer Science & Engineering , Biomedical Engineering,Cloud Computing & Big Data etc. These programmes ranging from mild to complex belongs to different specialisation from electronics and computer sciences. The institute’s approval regarding the total intake for all courses is 540 students which ensures the institute to keep a reasonable ratio of students to the teacher for better learning. Lack of specific data of graduation is seen, however, the current institute policy of delivering practical based education and curriculum prepares students for their future vocation.

When it comes to admission process at GIES it says that it follows policies that ensures total equality and non prevarication to admit students but it does not describe the admission procedure.
