Government Law College Tirunelveli was started in the year 1996 and it is one of the first generation institutions that offer legal education in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Samuel Raj College is an affiliated college established on the land of Tiruchendur Main Road, which consists of a massive 15 acres of land used for the college building and its acquisitions. The college offers three law courses namely the 5-years integrated course, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative degree in law and an Integrated Master of Laws degree in Constitutional Law and Human Rights approved by Bar Council of India. The college currently registers 1,349 students and still has a strong staffing base of 22 members which enable the college to foster sound environment for quality delivery of legal education.
The Government Law College thus has a variety of learning facilities that have been enhanced to meet the needs of the students. Library – another helpful tool in the studying process stores 13,291 books, 16 journals, 9 magazines, 50 ML projects – a perfect base for students to use in their researches. For the students own living space, the college provides separate hostels for the boys and the girls independently, and the capacity of the girl’s hostel alone can house more than one hundred student within the campus. Sport freaks have a variety of facilities within the socio-natural environment that includes volley ball, ball badminton, basketball, 200 meters track among others. Other games that can be played indoors include table tennis, carom, chess and so on. Furthermore, it also has a moot court, so necessary for actual legal practice, and also has a proper IT support for contemporary approaches to learning.
Out of the total number of three full-time courses offered at Government Law College, Tirunelveli, all the courses are designed to meet the various level requirements on law education. These comprises of the Five-year Integrated B.A., LL.B. programme, the Three-year LL.B. course and The Two-year Master of Laws in Constitutional Law and Human Rights. Though the number of seats for each course is unclear, the total strength of the college, ie student intake, is 1,349. This diverse range of programme enable students to select a track that fits them in the area of law, depending on their dreams.

You cannot apply for LLB course after completing B.Com with 2 arrears. You should first clear all your arrears in order to pursue LLB course. Also you should score 50% marks in graduation level to apply for LLB course. CLAT is the qualifying examination to secure admission for LLB course. You will be tested in subject areas like Reasoning, GK, Language skills, Legal aptitude etc in this exam. If you successfully clear this exam and obtain a good score in it, you can apply for reputed law colleges for this course.
