About Government Medical College, Thrissur

Government Medical College Thrissur or GMC Thrissur as common is located in Mulagunnathukavu, Thrissur district of Kerala state was established in the year 1982. NMC affiliated college, a 250 acre land having multiple medical courses are available for student’s choice. The faculty commits 537 self-motivated personnel to offer quality health care education to the students at GMC Thrissur. It has 25 courses in 5 degrees that meet medical education needs for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Government Medical College has excellent facilities developed in providing great opportunities for the students of GMC Thrissur to learn. The college also offers hostel and the accommodation is different for both male and female students so that they feel more comfortable. A good library will indeed complement medical learning by providing the necessary learning materials for medical research. The campus has modern it infrastructure where learning and communication within the campus is enhanced. Besides for academic concerns the college provides various sports amenities and it has a own auditorium for functions and lectures. Their health demands are served by a hospital in the campus, while their dining demands by a canteen within the campus. The college also has a strong alumni association that enhances close community of students and alumni students.

Among them, medical courses are complete and the institute provides a total of 25 programmes. These include full time programmes at the under graduate and post graduate levels. The major course wherein the NEET is applied is the MBBS course that has an accreditation for 175 students’ admission across the country.Post graduate courses include MD and MS courses, which provide a medical specialisation in different fields. It also offers super speciality programmes like DM Cardiology and M.Ch Neurosurgery though intake is a restricted number.

The admission at GMC Thrissur mainly follow the admission guidelines prescribed by the respective national entrance test. In case of MBBS programme admission is through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduate (NEET-UG). Consequently, postgraduate admissions for MD and MS courses are done through NEET-PG examination scoring system. The college follows these National level examinations’ admission schedule while maintaining fairness in the admission. Eligibility for B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology

  • 10+2 education completed in the Science stream from a recognized educational Board.
  • Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology as the main subjects of study at the 10+2 level.
  • A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.

B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology: Admission Process

Most institutes offering the course admit students based on their performance in a relevant entrance test, followed by a round of Personal Interview. Some institutes conduct their own entrance tests for offering admission. Admission process generally varies across colleges.
