Govt. P.G. College Sector-1, Panchkula, established in the year 1983, is one of the pioneering Institutions of Haryana State. The college is affiliated with NAAC, offering a wide range of courses in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This college sprawls over a 13-acre vast campus with an intake of 2,441 students and 88 faculty members. There are 23 courses in 11 different programmes catering to the diverse academic needs of students. The institution is fully committed to providing the best possible infrastructure to the students to ensure an optimum learning environment.

The infrastructure would be complete with a rich library supplied with books, journals, and study materials; well-equipped laboratories where the practical sessions would be held; an auditorium wherein events, seminars, etc. could be organised; and a 60-seated boy's hostel in 30 rooms wherein two beds would be provided to each student. There will be a cafeteria and health centre with first-aid facilities available within the Govt. P.G. College Sector-1, Panchkula. The physical fitness of the students is also looked after through the facility in the gym and other sporting facilities. The campus is also Wi-Fi enabled, with good IT infrastructure that supports modern learning demands. 

Government PG College Sector 1, Panchkula offers 23 full-time courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These are offered across the streams of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Computer Applications. Courses under the undergraduate segment include BA, B.Com, B.Sc Physical Science. The other professional courses the college offers include BA English Honours, BCA, and some postgraduate courses like M.Com, MA in various subjects, and M. Sc Botany. 

Govt. P G College, Sec-1, Panchkula, an admitting authority leaves no stone unturned for admission, doing admission quite structurally to maintain equity and transparency in it. Its rules of admission vary from course to course. Yet, for all courses, the academic merit is considered the first prime criterion by the admitting authority. In the case of some specialised programmes such as B.P.Ed, the college considers entrance examination, fitness tests, and interviews apart from qualifying examination scores. Its admission policy is controlled by the state government and its affiliating university.
