Government Pharmacy Institute Ranchi (GPI Ranchi) is one of the oldest institutions of the state was established in year 1975. This affiliated college is based at Bariatu, Ranchi, Jharkhand, PCI approved and AICTE recognized college. Located in a campus of six acres, GPI Ranchi has a particular focus on the field of pharmacy and is providing a diploma course for the candidates in the subject. Total enrollment of the institute is 99 students and the institute has 7 faculty members. It is co-educational, meaning the students come from different sexes thus promoting for gender equity at the learning institution.

GPI has developed numerous facilities to complement learning process of that institution as stated below; There is a good library containing current literature and recent books for supporting students with recent trends in pharma industry. Computer facilities of the contemporary learning institutions enable young people to updated with the technological development in the discipline. Most of the laboratories in the college are fully equipped with modern equipment to enable practical experience. For other co curricular activities the institute has provision for games and sports and a hall for seminars, cultural programs etc. Health and safety concerns are greatly addressed the college has its own health care with a clinic that offers first aid services within the compound. The institute also has its own hostel for the students of both the genders for the students who come from the other city or town. Internet connection within the compound allows students access to the internet, serving their academic mileage.

The institute currently offers one main course: to achive a Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma). This is a two-year full time program developed to build a strong knowledge base in pharmaceutical sciences among the students. The D.Pharma course at GPI Ranchi has an approved intake capacity of sixty students per year therefore the institute has agreed to practice with limited number of students in each class so as to maintain quality education. This enhances the delivery of one on one focused trainings and guarantees the students overall coverage of do’s and don’ts in pharmacy.
