The Government Polytechnic, Aluru, was founded in 2008 and is an affiliated college situated at Alur, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. This is a polytechnical institution that is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and provides diplomas in engineering disciplines. Located on a limited piece of ground of about 1.472 acres, the polytechnic currently has a total enrolment capacity of 175 students and 20 faculty members.

The campus is adorned with important amenities to enable skill acquisition in the students. Education is an important factor in a student’s life, and thus the college library is a knowledge centre that makes numerous education resources available to the student. Departmental laboratories are used for hands-on activities whereby students are given a practical application of certain theoretical ideas. The dictates of IT policy are also well met at the institute; students are familiar with new technological improvements within their study fields. Facilities for sports are available for ground and indoor games to look after the all-round development of the students. Accurate equipment of classes plays the key role in the organisation of effective processes of teaching and learning.

The institute offers two full-time courses, the Diploma in Civil Engineering and the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Every programme takes three years to complete, and all of the courses are given an enrolment capacity of 60 students, which makes for 120 seats each year. The concept of these diploma programmes is to provide students with necessary skills and an adequate degree of knowledge to find jobs in chosen fields of engineering or continue education at higher levels.
