Government Polytechnic College Mohali was established in the year 1996 is an affiliated college located at village Khuni Majra P.O. Kharar Tehsil Mohali District punjab. The college located in a sprawling campus of 16.75 acres of land is run under the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Currently the institute is admitting 606 students in total, having faculties of 40 it has numerous diplomas courses in various fields of engineering. It offers studies to the learners in technical courses, aiming at producing innovative technical learning institutions that equip their learners with practical, market-oriented knowledge, and skills.

Government Polytechnic College has modern amenities to facilitate the learner’s academic and personal development for the students. The library with a good collection in and around technical field comprises of books, Journals and dailies are available in various fields of subjects, science & technology, management and art, culture etc,. The extensive reading hall offers students and researchers an excellent place to read and work. For students’ holistically health, the college pays paramount importance to sports and games, which is aimed at holding an Athletic Meet every year for the purpose of stress on sportsmanship and team spirit. Mainly the Computer department helps students to build up logical thinking and problem-solving skills while providing students with computer hardware and software expertise. Furthermore, all departments have adequate laboratory facilities to support practical lessons throughout the college. A canteen provides meals and snacks for the consumption of all staff and student while guest house accommodates faculty and students visitors as well as the students’ families. The college also offers simple medical services with a facility of a clinic for cases of emergency.

Government Polytechnic College, Mohali provides a total of seven diploma courses such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, Electronics and Communication engineering  and all the courses are for the full time duration. The courses offered include a wide range of engineering disciplines to capture students’ interests and market needs. The total approved intake for all course combined is 340 holdings a year making it one of the best Institute for those aspiring to be technicians and engineers. Though graduation rate for the current academic year is not available, due to its emphasis on the relative practical education and marketable, skill based instruction the college tries to ensure that its students graduate with enhanced employability in their respective fields of interest.
