Government Polytechnic College Perambalur also known as GPC Perambalur was set up in 2010. Affiliated to the Perambalur University, Keelakanavai, this college is spread across an area of 5.31 acres of land. Accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), GPC Perambalur offer numerous diploma courses today. The college offers properlearning environment with 529 student strength and 33 faculties. GPC Perambalur provides 10 courses in various engineering disciplines as full time diploma courses and lateral entry and other courses to meet the educational needs of all the students and to fulfil their dreams.

Government Polytechnic College, Perambalur has the following facilities to support the education experience of all students. It is a fully equipped library with 10,671 books and 1,075 titles and has also 15 national journal subscriptions. With a reading hall capacity of 140, it operates from 10:is open from 00 AM to 5:45 PM that give enough time for study and research. There are the various facilities that the student applies to balance their academic books and physical activities such as sports. Infrastructure of Information Technology is very good in this college so students need not worry about the technological facilities available to them. Every department has its laboratory, where practical experience is required for technical education purposes. There is first aid facility that is a health centre on the campus, catering for the health needs of students. Many diploma programmes are available at this school, and all of the programmes are day programmes; thus, students cannot take evening classes. The college provides five main diploma programmes: Civil engineering and engineering mechanics, mechanical, electrical & Electronics, Electronics & communication, and computer science & engineering. All these programmes admit 60 students each. Moreover, the college provides the lateral entry for these disciplines with 12 numbers of seats for those students who wish to admit to the second semester of the diploma course directly. The diverse course offering also guarantees that any group of students has freedom to select a programme of their desire in the market.
