The Government Polytechnic College,(Purappuzha) Thodupuzha, Idukki District of Kerala was started on 2000. It is affiliated college approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) offers quality education in the stream of engineering and technological education. The college is located on a large piece of land of approximately 15 acres offering ideal environment for learning and development. There are 200 students in an institute and their faculty strength is 9 so that the focus can be provided on each student. At the moment, the college has three diploma courses all focused on various branches of engineering.

Various amenities exist in Government Polytechnic College, Purappuzha to promote all aspects of learning and skills among the fellow students. The library is fully equipped and plays the role of knowledge centre so that students can find relevant information. For those who have interest in sporting activities and body building,the college has provided adequate sports items and facilities including a functional gym. The information technology is well developed, so the students get acquainted with the advanced technologies. 

As for practical trainings all the departments are supplied with modern Scientific laboratories. The college also has an auditorium for seminars and other activities to enhance the college’s and the students’ activities.
