Government Polytechnic College, Vechoochira, an affiliated college started during the academic year 1998 – 99, is situated in Pathanamthitta District of Kerala. Having received the AICTE approval, the institution has three diploma programmes in engineering fields. Located on a 10-acre facility, the college consists of 458 students and 15 professors. The institute offers full time diploma courses in biomedical engineering, computer engineering and electronics engineering for 60 students respectively. As it is a government institution it aims at offering quality technical education at a reasonable price.

To make sure that the students get the best experience in the college and their overall development is improved, Government Polytechnic College, Vechoochira has many facilities. The library is well furnished and equipped with computers with an adequate number of books, magazines, and journals. It also provides internet facility and book bank section for the SC/ST students separately. CCF is one of the facilities of the institute and it has brought computing facilities and internet connection to the institute. The students have been able to practice in modern laboratories and therefore receive practical experiences in their specific areas of specialisation. In the area of physical health/disease, the college provides a gym and occasion to play sports. The conferences and seminars can be conducted in an Auditorium and Guest House that adds an active campus life. The college also provides for a health centre with first aid services to help the college in case of an emergency.

There exist three diploma courses offered at the Government Polytechnic College, Vechoochira and all the courses are full-time courses. These courses cut across all the fields of engineering to satisfy the variety of student interests as well as the market needs. The total capacity of the students enroled for all the courses is 180 and the number of seats available in each course is sixty. The distribution of focus helps provide adequate concentration or quality in all programmes. This is evident through its course offered that embraces technical education with an aim of preparing students with skill and knowledge as required in the modern world engineering field.
